This policy describes what personal data we collect when you visit this marketing website, buy a licence, or engage our consulting services. It does not describe data flows inside a self-hosted Kerno instance — those are described on the Security page.
Who we are
Kerno is a product and service operated by the maintainer of this website. Contact: hello@getkerno.ai.
What we collect
- Contact enquiries. When you submit the form at
/buy, we receive your email address, company name, selected tier, team size, message, and (if provided) how you found us. - Newsletter signups. Your email address, tagged with the signup context.
- Customer records. If you purchase a licence or engage consulting, we retain your email, company, payment reference, and licence key for contract delivery and support.
- Website analytics. Aggregated, privacy-respecting page-view data via Plausible Analytics. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers. Plausible is GDPR / CCPA / PECR compliant by design.
What we do with it
- Reply to enquiries and deliver the consulting or licence service you requested.
- Send the one-time launch notification if you opted into the newsletter.
- Understand which pages convert and which don't (aggregated analytics only).
- Meet our legal obligations (tax records, anti-fraud).
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train machine-learning models.
How long we keep it
- Contact enquiries that don't result in a sale: deleted after 12 months.
- Customer records: retained for the life of the licence plus 7 years (tax / dispute).
- Newsletter signups: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics: anonymised aggregates; individual events discarded after 24 months.
Third parties we share with
- Plausible Analytics — aggregated page views, no personal data.
- Payment processor (Stripe or Gumroad, depending on checkout route) — billing details only.
- Email delivery (Resend or Plunk) — your email address and the content of messages we send you.
- Self-hosted instance of Kerno — never. Your instance is on your infrastructure; we have no access to it unless you explicitly grant it during a consulting engagement.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold. Email hello@getkerno.aiand we'll action the request within 30 days. If you're in the EU/UK you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Cookies
This website does not set cookies. We use localStorage only for UI preferences you explicitly set (e.g. theme). Plausible Analytics is configured to run without cookies or persistent identifiers.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify existing customers by email.
